Section A -- December 19, 2013 Dickey County Leader Coins Avera Medical Group Orthopedic Surgery Special- ists (OSS) of Aberdeen, will join the Avera Medical Group (AMG) on January 1, 2014. The longtime orthopedic specialist practice that serves a large region surround- ing Aberdeen, will be changing its name to Avera Orthopedic Surgery Specialists. The practice includes ortho- pedic surgeons, Dr. James Mac- Dougall, Dr. Matthew Reynen, Dr. James Mantone, Dr. Patrick Miller, and Dr. Brandon Fites; physical medicine and rehab spe- cialist, Dr. Donald Frisco; primary care sports medicine specialist, Dr. Danny Wolfgram; and podiatrist, Dr. James Johnston. The physicians will continue practicing at their current location at 701 8th Ave NW and ten locations in South and North Dakota. Along with the phy- sicians, the change to Avera will also include 115 employees of the Orthopedic Center of the Dakotas. "We are very pleased to add this group of excellent physicians and their experienced staff to our Avera family", says John Porter, President and CEO of Avera Health. "We ap- preciate their well-earned reputa- tion as a regional orthopedic cen- ter, and we look forward to joining forces to provide even better care to patients." Avera OSS physicians will con- tinue to provide services through their surgery center, Dakota Plains Surgical Center, as well as the Sur- gery Center at Avera St. Luke's Hospital. "We look forward to this new relationship with Avera," says Dr. James MacDougall. "Through all of the years we have operated our clinic and surgery center in Aberdeen, we have maintained our privileges and have practiced at Avera St. Luke's Hospital. We are very familiar with their surgical team and facilities, work well with their staff, and anticipate a joint partnership in building the orthope- dic care model for the future." Avera is the largest provider of orthopedic services in South Dakota and has been recognized for outstanding quality. The new part- nership will actively pursue new concepts to improve access, treat- ment and outcomes for patients. As part of an integrated health system, Avera Medical Group and Avera St. Luke's Hospital offer a full range of services for orthope- dic patients. These services include in-patient rehabilitation, out-pa- tient rehabilitation including warm water therapy, sports medicine, home health services and home medical equipment all available in Aberdeen. November 24th Art Wall went to Pierre, SD for a pre-Thanksgiving dinner with his daughter, Darlene and family. Present were her husband Jeff, son Alan and Jackie Berheim and their sons Brandon and Joshua. It was a good meal and fun for every- one, Art returned home the next day. Thanksgiving Day Art Wall had dinner with his granddaughter, Pa- mela and Harvey Henningsen, Wyatt and Paige. Also there were Darell and Marilyn Wall and their son John and Deb Wall and their girls Aubrey, Addison and new baby and Brian and Sue Urlacher and son Connor. A good meal. Lots of children and fun. What a Blessing! Wednesday afternoon Theresa and Brent Petersen, Mark and Drew ar- rived from Washburn, ND and Jus- tin from NDSU in Fargo at the Gary Olson home. They were all house guests. Thanksgiving Day dinner guests at the home of NaTanya Olson, Teagan, Evan and Mariska were Gary and Celia Olson, Brent, Theresa, Justin, Mark and Drew Petersen, Paul and Deanne Olson, Taylor, Breanna and Josh, LaNell Jaquish, Rhett Jaquish and Paisley of Sauk City, WI. LaNell, Rhett and Paisley arrived on Tuesday and returned home on Friday. Thanksgiving guests at the home of Tom and Joanne Berheim were Chad and Stephanie Benyon, Carter and Zach. The boys were able to do some hunting with dad and grandpa. Thanksgiving Day guests at the home of Oscar and Evelyn Fuller were Mark Fuller, Jay, Kiley and Dacey Fuller, Klare Loewen and Ned and Kay Fredrick, Isaac and Lucas. Tuesday, November 26th Oscar and Evelyn Fuller attended the All School Jazz Concert at Central High 000 School in Aberdeen, SD. Isaac and Lucas play the trombone. Lloyd and Shirley Martin, Ryan and Marcie Brokaw, Trent and Av- ery, and Doug and Patty Zahn were Thanksgiving dinner guests at the home of Kevin and Jackie Brokaw. Sunday, December 1st visitors and supper guests of Lloyd and Shirley Martin were Gary and Celia Olson and Cecil Riggenburg of Columbia, SD. Stan and Nanette Comell and Anita of Mandan, ND spent Friday and Sat- urday at the home of Allen Guenther. The family of Violet Maier were all Thanksgiving Day guests at the home of Jeff and Rosina Anliker. Ross and Marilyn Mulder and Kristen of St Louis, MO, Clark and Sherri Bernard and Chris of Fergus Falls, MN arrived at the home of Arvin and Darlene Hauck on Wednes- day night. Thanksgiving Day all of the above, along with Chuck and Roberta Romberg and Katie, Bernice Feiring and Duane and Janelle Feir- Once again I'm including 2 weeks of news this week. The snowbirds in Arizona are telling me temps a couple of weeks ago were in the 60's during the day and 40's at night. But the last four days (Dec. 5th - 8th) they've had freezing temperatures. They hoped water spouts and water pipes wouldn't freeze, since they are buried in very shallow ground, and covered any fruit trees before going to bed. They've even had to resort to wearing jeans instead of shorts. I don't feel to sorry for them since those of us still up here in the north- by Darlene Hauck ing, Kayla, Larissa and Madison of Binford, ND were Thanksgiving Day dinner guests at the home of Keith and Janell Hauck, Emily, Jacob, Call and Caleb. A fun time had by all and delicious food! Friday and Saturday night supper guests at the home of Arvin and Dar- lene Hauck were their house guests, Ross, Marilyn, Kristen, Clark, Sherri, Chris and Keith and Janell Hauck and family. Their house guests left for home on Sunday. Our Sympathies to Betty Vander- Vorste and family on the death of Norman Vander Vorste. Some from the area attended his funeral which was held Saturday morning, Novem- ber 30th at the Presbyterian United Methodist Church in Ellendale. Anthony Wolff of Halstad, MN and Judy and Floyd Westerman of Jeffers, MN were Thanksgiving and weekend guests of their parents, Christ and Leona Wolff. Dennis and Carolyn Ryckman, Samuel, Cassandra and Joshua of land have to wear our winter jackets, gloves, and ear muffs. Sunday night (8th) on my way home from a Tour of Homes in LaMoure it was -6 de- grees. Attending breakfast on Dec. 2nd, at the East Valley Cafe in Mesa were the following: Jack & Ruby Terry, Doris Jacobs, Ruby's sister from Fargo, Rachel Young, Elaine Hein- rich, Bob & Mary Widmer, David & Dawn Holter, Vernon & Susie Ulmer,Larry & Edie Raatz, John Mouw, Del & Marlys Carvell, and Norman & Jane Mueller. Pierre, SD and Kathy Berstler, Na- than, Andrew and Kristen of Des Moines, Iowa arrived at the home of Ted and Karen Wolff Wednesday night, November 27th. Thanksgiving Day all of the above attended Forbes Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Later all of the above and Mike and Darci Wolff, Grace and Avery were dinner and supper guests at Ted and Kar- en's. The Ryckmans returned home Thanksgiving night and Kathy and family left Sunday for their home in Iowa. Ted and Karen Wolff attended the Jr. High and High School Chritmas concert in Leola Thursday night. Grace and Lexi participated. Sunday night visitors at the home of Arvin and Darlene Hauck were Gary and Celia Olson. Monday night, December 9th sev- eral from the area attended Jr High and High School Concert at the Ellendale School Gym under the di- rection of Mrs.A)eLange. Very well done and enjoyable!
