6 Section A --July 21, 2011 Ellendale Legion hands Wishek first Section 2 loss of the season Roberta Johnson Dickey County Leader The Ellendale American Legion baseball team added a notch to their bats defeating Wishek 11-10 which was Wishek&apos;s first Section 2 loss of the season. Earlier in the week Ellendale traveled to Wishek and lost 9-2 making the win at home sweeter. Ellendale also lost a Sectional game in LaMoure, 8-1. The Section 2 baseball tournament got underway in Ellendale yesterday (July 20th) and will continue through this Saturday,. July 23rd). As the tournament got underway Wishek sat alone atop Section 2 tbllowed by Edgeley. As the paper went to press, the remainder of the standings and the bracket for the tournament was not available. Ellendale 11 Wishek 10 Ellendate hosted Wishek July 1 lth and handed them their first Sectional loss, 11-10. Wishek picked up a single run in the second inning and Ellendale came back with three runs. Levi Christian- son doubled and Ryan Flynn fol- lowed with a walk. Derick Barondeau singled, scoring Christianson. Tanner White reached on an error, scoring Flynn and Josh Morrissey followed with a single scoring Barondeau Wishek plated three in the third but Ellendale topped that with seven import and runs in the bottom of the inning. Andy-Wertz started things off drawing a walk. Brady Enge singled and Christianson walked to load the bases. Matthew Martin was hit by the pitch scoring Wertz. Flynn walked scoring Enge. Barondeau grounded out to shortstop scoring Chrisstian- son. White walked and Morrissey tripled clearing the bases. Morrissey scored when Donovon Flaherty dou- bled. Wished picked up three runs in the fourth and four in the top of the sev- enth to tie the game at 10. Morrissey reached on a fielders choice, stole second and third and later scored the 1 lth and winning run for Ellendale. Bryan Weber started on the mound for Coach Devin Lehnhoff and went six and a third innings before be- ing relieved by Andy Wertz. Wertz picked up the win. Wishek 9 Eilendale 2 Josh Morrissey and Bryan Weber scored the two runs for Ellendale, both in the fourth inning. Andy Wertz started on the mound with Levi Christianson coming in to pitch in the sixth inning. LaMoure 8 Ellendale 1 Ellendale lost a Sectional game to LaMoure 8-1. Ellendale's lone run scored in the 3rd when Tanner White reached on an error, stole second and third and scored on a wild pitch. Josh Morrissey started on the mound for Ellendale with Levi Chris- tianson coming in to pitch in the sec- ond inning. Tanner White, Josh Morrissey, Andy Wertz and Matthew Martin had the only hits for Ellendale. Ellendale had a Sectional game at Lisbon Friday, July 15th and a dou- ble header scheduled at Aberdeen on July 17th however results of those games were not made available by press time. Weather played a big part in this year's schedule with games having to be' postponed and some games were never played because of wet fields or not enough players available. Baseball fans - come on out to Dr. Roy Lynde Memorial field today, to- morrow and Saturday and watch the Section 2 Ah erican Legion baseball tournament. Cheer on the home town boys and watch some good baseball. The winner of Section 2 will advance to the State Tournament. Radtke family reunion was held in Medora, ND July 8th and 9th. Those present were James, Holli and Blaine Radtke of Williston, ND, Laura Turn- er of Spearfish, SD, Nathan Reierson of Devils Lake, ND, Steve and Diane Olson ofHarwood, ND,Tracy Olson of Grand Fol'ks, ND, Matt and Kate Olson of Golden Valley, MN, Adam 'and Mary, Alex. Logan and Mol- lie Zvorak of Spefirfish, Tom, Cindy and Nathan Radtke of Brookfield, CT, and Robert and Hildie Radtke of Ellendale. The Medora musical was enjoyed. The Wagner reunion this year was four days.at Elm Lake at the Berheim Lodge. Ella Fuchs had family from Texas. Linda & Joe Strickland, Rhonda & Tom Brandenberger from Cakes, Roy & Lavonna Fuchs from Mandon, ND, Marty Fuchs & Deb Savey from Minn. were at Ella's Place. They had lunch with us and then went back home. Had supper at the Lodge after the 125th at Monango. Willard & Bey Wolff from Aberdeen, Jim & Ethel Wolff from New Orleans, LA, Bob & Stella Pressler from Minn. heard Ella was cooking that night (knephla hotdish with sausage and kuchen for dessert). The others at the lodge were Deloris Witickp from Forman & her grand- son Jordon from Wyndmere, ND. Cliff & Leon Wagner from Arizo- na, Ruben Wagner from Minn and his stepson Coroner, Ken & Jane Wagner and their three granddaughters from from Chicago also attended. Carol Parrott from Sheridon, WY and her daughters Smantha & John Gallen- fine from Lincoln, NE. and Steph & Brock Ping and their 2 children from Billings, Montana. One day we took the children to Wylie Park Storybook Land. The la- dies had Red Hat day one afternoon while the guys went fishing. We had a great reunion and everyone enjoyed it so we may have it there again next year. This was our 19 year for meet- ing as a yearly family fun time. We-had games every night and on Sunday afternoon we even had a "Christmas in June" which was each person was to bring a $5 gift that re- ally was fun. We have more cousins I I Forbes News... Wednesday afternoon, June 29th, Mil0 and Dena DeWald and Delores Kiupes of Michigan were Visitors at the Arvin and Darlene Hauck home. Arvin and Darlene Hauck were among those that attended the fu- neral for Ema Viola DeWald at First Reformed Church in Aberdeen, SD on Thursday, June 30th. Later they visited with Uncle Gottleib and Aunt Rose Gienger at Bethesda Home in Aberdeen. July 4th lunch guests of Arvin and Darlene Hauck at their home were. Keith and Janell Hauck, Emily, Jacob, Calli and Caleb. They all attended fes- tivities in Forbes. It was well attend- ed and the fireworks were awesome! Many from the area attended an early 80th birthday party for Dean Melland held at the Melland farm late afternoon on the 4th of July. • Thursday night, June 30th the Whitestone Hill Battlefield grout met at the Forbes Legion Hall. Plans are falling in place for the August 26th School Days and Sunday, August 28th program, all to be held at Whitestone Hill Battlefield. Guests and house guests of Violet Maier before and during the Haux family reunion held at Leola, SD the let, 2nd and 3rd of July were Robert Haux and grandsons; Mr. and Mrs. Scott Haux, Jackie and Phill Buttler and daughter, all of Laurinberg, ND, Eldon and Russell Haux of Couer d'Alene, Idalao; Norma Rohrbach; Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Rohrbach and family of Yakima, WA, Cory Ryan of Florida, Gladys and Robert McGow- en of Phoenix, AZ, Eldon and Nancy Beldon of Washington, Misty and Kyle Sinclair, Robbi and Alexia, the Jim Seversons of Leola, SD, Cory and Jessie Clark of Lawton, OK, Becky and Erin Waldrop arid Patty and Phil Caldwell of Altus, OK, Stun and San- dra Erlenbusch, Carley-Erlenbusch and friend Jason, Andi and Heidi Ti- tze of Minneapolis, MN, Matt Wolf of Black Hawk, SD, Gwen and Jim Wolf, Marcus Wolf, all of Leola, Val and Delane Henke, Molli Henke. Some of the above enjoyed a 4th of July picnic supper at the Mike Hennings and Jaden in Forbes. Saturday, July 2rid Ed and Kathy Bersfler and Kristen of Des Moines, Iowa arrived at the home of Ted and Karen Wolff. Sunday dinner guest of Ted and Karen, at their home, were all of the above along with Mike and Darci Wolff, Lexi, Land0n, Grace and Avery. The Berstlers left for home Wednesday. Many from the area attended the Monango News Hi! I'm back after an absence of about 3 months. (Not by choice.) I am doing quite well and very thankful to be home again, and im- proving every day. Congratulations are in order for Grace and Elmo Kaiser on the cel- ebration of their 70th Wedding An- niversary on June 20th, 2011. That is quite a milestone which not many attain in this day and age. May you have many more special Anniversaries! I heard many good reports of 125th Anniversary of Monango. How I wish that I could have been there! I know that it took many dedicated volunteers to make it a success, and you did it! Congratu- lations on a job well done. Thank you! Since I'll be back printing Mofiango News, I will be waiting to hear from you. You know how much I need you. July 11. Six members of the Mike & Shari Wendel fam- ily, LaMoure, N.D. came to help in the clean-up project at the Kel- logg farm. In addition to 5 hours spent in the yard removing trees & debris, they spent 3 hrs in the soy- bean field picking up branches that were strewn, across the field from the one-row shelter belts in the 100 acre field.
